The tongue can bring death or life;
those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
For Christmas one year I gave my best friend a package of napkins. Now, you might think a package of napkins is a dumb gift for someone you care about, but these napkins were the perfect gift for my friend: On the front of each napkin was a picture of a beautiful woman leaning up against a tree and the thought bubble above her head said, “Should I use my powers for good or evil today?”
The words that form on my tongue can either be good or evil. My words can either bring life to someone or they can be weapons that slowly kill them. This is especially true when it comes to how I speak to my children. I need to constantly ask myself, “Am I choosing to use words that build my children up or are the words that flow from my tongue slowly killing their spirits?”
Prayer for Today:
Dear God, help me to be wise in the way
I use my tongue to speak to my children this day.
Help me use words that will build them up
and bring them closer to you.
