Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.
Taxes. Every country has them and people are always complaining about them. If you have never looked at the information on your check stub, consider doing so. There you will see the money that is taken out of your wages to pay taxes--local taxes, state taxes, federal taxes, and Social Security.
Sometimes it doesn’t seem fair. We’re the ones working hard for our wages and yet we have to give so much back to the government. God’s Word tells us to pay our taxes. Even Jesus instructed the Pharisees that taxes are to be paid to the government (Matthew 22:15-22), telling them, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar.”
While the Bible tells us that we are to pay taxes, there are times when mistakes are made in doing so. If you have questions about your taxes, be wise and seek out someone who can help you understand your situation. Seek out someone whom you know is trustworthy, someone who knows the tax laws, and someone who knows that paying taxes honors God’s word.
