The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
Unless you live on or near a farm, you may not know how important a shepherd is to the sheep. A shepherd’s job is to protect and provide for his flock of sheep. The sheep know that their shepherd will provide everything they need—food, water, shelter and protection.
Did you know that when you became a follower of Jesus Christ He became your shepherd? He wants to be your caretaker, your protector, the one who watches over you and provides you with everything you need.
Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices His life for the sheep” (John 10:11). He loves you so much that He not only wants to care for your earthly needs (food, water, shelter), He wants to share all of eternity with you! That’s why He says, “The good shepherd sacrifices His life for the sheep.” Jesus, the good shepherd, by dying on the cross paid the penalty for your sins. Jesus truly is the good shepherd because He has given you and me all that we need.
